PE247 – Factoid. That's how federal deputy and national vice-president of the PSDB party, Bruno Araújo (PE), defines the government's proposal to call a plebiscite for political reform. The parliamentarian defends holding a referendum, where the voter has the final say, ratifying or rejecting the proposal after it is presented. Despite having shown himself to be against the way the current government, led by President Dilma Rousseff (PT), is conducting the discussions, the PSDB member acknowledged the importance of the issue for next year's elections.

According to him, "2014 will be the year in which political reform will enter the agenda of issues and topics of a national election for the first time." For the congressman, the wave of mobilizations in recent weeks was a "watershed moment" for the country. "Any public official who is not clear about this moment will be expelled by the vote," he said.

During an interview given to Rádio JC/CBN, this Monday (15), Bruno Araújo stated that the president elected in 2014 is the one who will have the legitimacy to lead the process of discussion and implementation of political reform. "Other new forces are beginning to prepare to serve as an alternative to power," he declared.

The congressman took the opportunity to criticize the federal government's economic policy, especially regarding the inflationary process, which, according to the politician, spiraled out of control due to President Dilma's mismanagement. "President Dilma Rousseff's government allowed the dragon of inflation to return," he said. According to him, "explosive inflation has been consuming the purchasing power of the middle class."
