The 2014 World Cup achieved a record sales of US$262 million (R$533 million) in VIP packages, according to Match, the company responsible for FIFA's hospitality program. Nearly 90 packages have already been sold.
With two years still to go before the World Cup, revenue from hospitality package sales for the Brazilian event is already equal to that of the 2010 South Africa World Cup. The sale of these packages is exclusively to legal entities (companies).
"International demand has also been remarkable, considering that qualifying competitions are still in their early stages or haven't even started yet," said Jaime Byrom, president of Match.
