247 - The Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Goiânia City Council will receive this morning (the 4th), in the Committee Meeting Room, the Municipal Secretary of Public Works, Washington Ramalho, to give details of the contract that outsources the maintenance of public lighting in the capital. The summons is an initiative of the president of the CCJ, Elias Vaz (PSB).

“We want the secretary to explain and show us, in the spreadsheets attached to the contract, how they arrived at the figure of R$ 18 million to replace the city's light bulbs over a six-month period,” he states. The councilman emphasizes that the contract, despite its high value, was signed without a bidding process, and that one of the partners of the contracted company, Luz Urbana Ltda, is already facing legal problems.

The president of the CCJ (Committee on Constitution and Justice) sent an invitation on January 15th for Ramalho to appear before the Chamber. “He didn’t even respond, so we decided to summon him to explain the details of this contract to the council members, including those belonging to the Municipality’s base,” states Elias Vaz. “We want to understand why outsource a service that, when they have the materials to work with, the Municipality’s employees can do at a much lower cost.”

The contract is being questioned by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás (MP-GO), which recommended its cancellation. According to prosecutor Fernando Krebs, outsourcing the work, which is the responsibility of Comurg, constitutes misuse of public funds.
