Opposition to formalize complaint against PT members
A complaint alleging premature campaigning against the mayor of Recife, João da Costa, and the state secretary of government, Maurício Rands, was conceived by former deputy Raul Jungmann (PPS) and has the support of opposition pre-candidates Raul Henry (PMDB) and Mendonça Filho (DEM).
Leonardo Lucena _PE247 - The pre-candidate for mayor of Recife for the PPS, Raul Jungmann (PPS), will file a lawsuit with the Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) against the mayoral candidates Maurício Rands and João da Costa, both from the PT. The representation will be made next Thursday (26). For Jungmann, the PT members are using the dispute for primaries in the party to anticipate the electoral campaign, which is prohibited by law.
“João da Costa is using public resources and machinery in his campaign. Rands is also benefiting from state and federal resources,” accused Raul Jungmann. According to the post-communist, the distribution of positions and grants, and the meetings – structured like political rallies – are some examples of practices not foreseen by law that are being carried out by the Workers' Party candidates.
The action already has the support of other opposition pre-candidates. Federal deputies Raul Henry (PMDB) and Mendonça Filho (DEM) have officially endorsed it. The other candidate from the opposition, state deputy Daniel Coelho (PSDB), has not yet officially confirmed his support, stating that he will wait to see how the allegations unfold.
“Each fact must be analyzed separately. I don't know exactly the degree of seriousness of this action. But that's what the justice system is for. For now, I'll wait a little to see how the case unfolds,” explained Daniel Coelho.
