Opposition holds meeting without certainty of Iris's presence.

Opposition parties, led by PMDB and PT, are meeting this Monday afternoon in Goiânia, at the PT headquarters; on the agenda is the selection process for the 2014 gubernatorial candidate; the alliance between PMDB and PT is facing a crisis, and PT members may reaffirm today their desire to launch their own candidate.

Goiás 247 - The opposition parties, led by PMDB and PT, are holding a meeting this afternoon in the capital, at the PT headquarters. The topic is the candidacy for governor of the state in 2014. Iris Rezende's presence is not yet confirmed - it is likely that the PMDB leader will not attend the meeting.

The timing of the alliance is critical. The PMDB has been holding internal meetings, including one with Júnior Friboi, where party leaders have asked the businessman to be more aggressive in his stance against the state government.

Meanwhile, the PT is also making moves, and the party leadership met with Antônio Gomide and Paulo Garcia, the party's two pre-candidates. This afternoon's meeting could either ease the tension or worsen the relationship between the PT and PMDB.

The Workers' Party (PT) wants a firmer stance from the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB) because Gomide and Paulo need to leave their mayoral positions on April 5th. Iris's PMDB seems unconcerned about this and says it will not accelerate the candidate selection process due to pressure from the PT.
