The second phase of Operation Immediatu was the transfer of 73 prisoners from the Custody House to other prisons in the State and began in the early afternoon of this Thursday (24), right after the conclusion of the general inspection carried out at the Teresina Custody House.

The 73 prisoners transferred were identified as disruptors of the order at the Custody House, suspected of inciting the riot last Sunday (24) and of being linked to crimes that are being investigated by the Justice Department, Public Security Department and Civil Police.

“We were investigating and, during the operation carried out this morning, we separated, isolated, and now transferred these inmates to other prison units in the state, in order to dismantle their criminal activities and ensure order in the system,” explains the Custody Manager, Lieutenant Jean Carlo Bezerra.

The Secretary of Justice, Daniel Oliveira, notes that the measure is necessary to weaken potential criminal groups within the prison. "We transferred the prisoners and will separate them into different penitentiaries, in order to eliminate any chance of a riot," explains the official.

Launched at 7 am this Thursday (24), Operation Immediatu is a response from the Piauí Department of Justice to the disturbances that occurred at the Teresina Custody House, earlier this week, and was carried out in partnership with the Military Police, Civil Police and the Department of Public Security.

More than one hundred men from the state's security forces participated in the general inspection, which took place simultaneously in all pavilions of the unit (B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I). BOPE, RONE, Riot Police, Canine Unit, Cavalry, Tactical Force and Prison Operations Command conducted the operation.

The operation was carried out in parallel with Operation Coercion, by the State Public Security Secretariat, in the streets, through which suspects of setting fire to vehicles in Teresina the previous week and committing other crimes were arrested. An investigation is underway to identify all points related to the incidents.

Illegal items are seized.
During an inspection at the Detention Center, 12 cell phones, 72 bladed weapons, 62 batteries, and narcotics were seized. This information comes from the unit's management. All items were separated, identifying the respective cells where they were found. An investigation will be opened to investigate and apply administrative and disciplinary measures regarding the case.
