São Paulo – Odebrecht Infraestrutura and Sport Club Corinthians Paulista reaffirmed today (29) that work on Arena Corinthians, Itaquerão, the stadium chosen to host the opening of the 2014 World Cup, will resume on Monday (2). All the workers – 1.350 workers – were called back to resume activities.

According to the construction company, the work will be concentrated on the west, north, and south buildings, the stands, and the field. "Odebrecht emphasizes that the structure of the stands has not been compromised," the company said in a statement.

Today, Civil Defense technicians and representatives from Liebherr, the crane manufacturer responsible for installing the roof, were at the construction site. Also scheduled for today was the testimony of crane operator José Valter Joaquim to the head of the 65th Police District, Luiz Antônio da Cruz. However, he did not appear. This would have been the third testimony regarding the accident at the Corinthians stadium. Since Wednesday (27), a safety technician and an engineer have already been heard.

As a consequence of the tragedy, work remains suspended on part of the arena's construction. Yesterday (28), the Ministry of Labor and Employment vetoed the use of nine load handling equipment while awaiting technical verification reports that guarantee the absence of risks. According to the agency, technicians from the ministry continue to carry out inspections on site.
