The mayor of Aracaju, Edvaldo Nogueira, signed a service order for the completion of complementary works in the Coqueiral neighborhood, in the North Zone; the R$ 6,1 million investment will directly benefit 23 streets in the community; the works are expected to be completed within eight months; the services to be carried out include earthmoving, containment, rainwater drainage, paving, sewage system, water supply system and sidewalk construction.
Sergipe 247 - "This is the happiest day of my life in the last eight months, as we are resuming a project that will change an entire neighborhood and benefit those who need it most." This is how Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira defined, on the morning of this Friday (25), the signing of the service order for the completion of complementary works in the Coqueiral neighborhood, in the North Zone of Aracaju. The investment is R$ 6,1 million.
In addition to authorizing the immediate start of the works, which will benefit 23 streets in the community, the municipal manager visited some of the streets to listen to the residents and reaffirm his commitment to completing a project whose conception and execution, for the most part, took place during Edvaldo's previous administration. The project is expected to be delivered within eight months.
"The work we did here changed the reality of this place. More than R$ 30 million was invested in the construction of over 300 houses, in addition to sewage and urbanization works. And I left the money in the treasury for this final phase. Unfortunately, the previous administration did not continue the project. Upon taking over the City Hall, we rushed and fought to keep the funds, which were almost lost, and now we are restarting the neighborhood's infrastructure interventions. The suffering is over. Now it's time to build happiness," the mayor emphasized.
Edvaldo reiterated his satisfaction in starting the project with the largest amount of resources of his current term, in these first eight months, in the Coqueiral neighborhood. "The first major project of my administration is here in Coqueiral, fulfilling another commitment to society. I keep my word. With work, dedication, and commitment, we will benefit one of the most needy areas of the city. In eight months, we will see the difference, not only with the completion of the physical work, but also in the increased self-esteem of the community. We returned to the mayor's office to do more and better for the people of Aracaju," he stated.
In Partnership with
In his speech, the mayor also made a request to the manager of Camel Empreendimentos e Construções, the company that will carry out the work. He asked that the company hire labor from the community itself. "If you can hire people from the neighborhood, it will be very good, to generate employment. Nothing is better and fairer than a company that will receive more than R$ 6 million throughout the execution of this project, to also use this resource for the benefit of the community by generating employment. It ceases to be just a physical construction and takes on the contours of an action with repercussions in the social field," he argued.
The president of the Municipal Works and Urbanization Company (Emurb), Sérgio Ferrari, highlighted that the works in the Coqueiral neighborhood include the complete infrastructure of the 23 streets; "The work includes water, sewage, earthworks and paving. It is a project that Edvaldo started in 2010, gave great impetus to in his previous administration, left the funds in the treasury, but unfortunately there was no continuation. Now, we will pursue the deadline set to complete this work," he said.
Population very satisfied
Residents of the Coqueiral neighborhood were very happy with the resumption of the work. Retired Lúcia de Fátima Oliveira, who has lived in the area for 22 years, said that the urbanization of the area is "a dream come true." "We have been fighting for a better quality of life for this community for over 20 years. And this day has arrived with Edvaldo's return to the mayor's office. The mayor's presence here is the certainty that we will have better days here," she stated.
For young Jéssica Santos, the project will change a situation that is very difficult for residents. "The situation of the streets today is very difficult. Several times, people fall, slip in the mud. But with the project, all of that will change 100%. When it's finished, the garbage truck will be able to pass, people will walk safely, and cars will be able to enter, including ambulances," she emphasized.
Streets benefited
The project, costing R$ 6.157.021,10, will involve the following services: earthworks, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, paving, sewage system, water supply system, and sidewalk construction. The project will include the following streets: João Ribeiro and Lagoa Santa alleyways, João Ribeiro Street, Frei Enoque Street, Boa Vista Street, Rua da Paz Street, Santa Bárbara Street, Divina Pastora Street, Santa Rita Street, Santo Crispim Street, Frei Paulo Street, São Roque Street, and streets numbered 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 33.
The signing of the service order was attended by councilors Antonio Bittencourt (government leader in the Chamber), Fábio Meirelles, Isac Silveira, Américo de Deus, Juvêncio Oliveira, Dr. Gonzaga, Zezinho do Bugio, Bigode do Santa Maria, Jason Neto and Seu Marcos, as well as community leaders and municipal secretaries.
