Construction on the Mauá Wharf is starting to move from the planning stage to reality.

The revitalization project for Cais Mauá, in which up to R$ 500 million is expected to be invested, has begun to take shape, but it is unlikely that the first phase of the work will be completed before the 2014 World Cup; the project will be carried out by the company Porto Cais Mauá do Brasil and will cover the stretch from the Bus Station to the Gasometer Power Plant, with a length of 2 km and an area of 187 m².

RS247– The revitalization project for Cais Mauá, in which up to R$ 500 million should be invested, began to take shape this Monday (21), however, it is unlikely that the first stage of the work will be completed before the 2014 World Cup. The project, which will be carried out by the company Porto Cais Mauá do Brasil, will extend from the Bus Station to the Gasometer Power Plant, covering 2 kilometers and an area of 187 thousand square meters (m²).

The project consists of transforming the Guaíba riverfront into a multi-use space with bars, commercial establishments, shops, and restaurants. According to the newspaper Zero Hora, in the first half of this year, the forecast was that construction could begin up to 11 months before the World Cup, but this was not possible.

The director of Cais Mauá, Ademir Schneider, confirmed his pessimism regarding the project's completion date. "I think it's difficult, as it's very behind schedule. Perhaps part of it will be resolved before the World Cup. In November we will know which company has been contracted," he said.
