Cristiano's show

Portuguese star gives Real Madrid victory over Bara in the Copa del Rey.

A key player in Wednesday's Copa del Rey final, forward Cristiano Ronaldo emphasized the importance of the title, which Real Madrid hadn't won since 1993. Despite its lesser significance compared to La Liga and the Champions League, the Portuguese player maintains that the competition has always been a goal.

"It was a very important title for us. It was a goal we had for this season and we achieved it. And we did it against a Barcelona team that played very well in the second half," commented the striker, who had already predicted a low-scoring game: "We knew that, in this match, whoever scored would win. And that's exactly what happened." The only goal of the game, scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, came only in the 7th minute of the first half of extra time.

Also celebrating the title was the club's president, Florentino Pérez. The mastermind behind the Galácticos teams, the only one missing from his resume was the Copa del Rey. "It was a very vibrant match. Real Madrid did everything it could to win the Cup," he asserted, highlighting the celebration of Spanish football, which, according to him, "showed that it leads football in the world."

Still celebrating the title on the pitch, Xabi Alonso preferred not to think about the upcoming Clásico against Barcelona in a week, this time in the Champions League: "We have to enjoy the moment and then we'll think about the next one. We have to celebrate this one as it deserves," said the midfielder.
