Bahia 247 - PSB candidate for governor of Bahia, Senator Lídice da Mata defends presidential candidate Marina Silva, her party colleague, against the "attacks" she has been suffering from the PT of President Dilma Rousseff, who is trying to be re-elected. In an interview with Metrópole radio, in Salvador, this Thursday (11), Lídice stated that Marina "is a phenomenon apart".
"Marina is a different phenomenon. The expectation of change didn't materialize with Eduardo (Campos). When tragedy strikes and Marina emerges as a new candidate, she brings the commotion, in addition to a new factor. It disrupts the game. It pushes the PSDB aside and makes her strong and the favorite for the second round. We spent 20 days paralyzed by Eduardo's death, which hurt our campaign. With Marina's strength, we're going to turn things around."
The candidate for governor of Bahia also says that "they are demonizing Marina" and compares her fellow party member to former president Lula when he first ran for office.
"They're trying to demonize Marina, spreading the idea that she can't govern. She has the ability to make this change, and parliament will adapt to the presence of the Executive Branch. We saw this with Lula. All this manipulation against him. Now it's the PT, which is now frustrating and disappointing. The PT voted against the pension reform during FHC's time. Later, they presented a similar reform, and the PSDB rejected it."
