The CEO of Netflix doesn't have an office (and it's not meant to be like the rest).

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has a net worth of $1,29 billion, but he doesn't even have an office; the reason isn't a nod towards egalitarianism within Netflix or a need to feel connected to his employees, but rather that he simply doesn't need and doesn't want an office; this is confirmed by himself in an interview with The New York Times: "My office is my cell phone," he says; "One day I realized that I hardly used my office and that there was no need to keep it. It's better for me to be in contact with people throughout the building."

Lucas Bicudo, StartSe Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has a net worth of $1,29 billion, but he doesn't even have an office.

The reason isn't a nod toward egalitarianism within Netflix or a need to feel connected to his employees, but rather that he simply doesn't need and doesn't want an office. He himself confirmed this in an interview with The New York Times.

“My office is my cell phone,” he says. “One day I realized that I hardly used my office and that there was no need to keep it. It’s better for me to be in contact with people all over the building.”

In the interview with the Times, Reed met the reporter at the Netflix cafeteria, where he leaned back and began "throwing out answers to questions like it was a day at the beach."

Part of the reason stems from his job as CEO, which demands that Reed is always on the move. He himself has announced that he spends a maximum of 3 or 4 nights at his home in Los Angeles per month, as international commitments always place him in a different corner of the world each week.

But there's more to this story than meets the eye. We're talking about the CEO of one of the most visible companies in the world today. He could very well have an office just to… I don't know… meet with a reporter from The New York Times?

Reed's red entrepreneurial light is always on, and he considers that attitude a waste of resources, whereas he can achieve the same goals without expending effort and money on it.
