Sergipe 247 - The political leader of the opposition group, Edivan Amorim (PR), appeared yesterday on the election broadcast dedicated to candidates for state representative, to, according to him, refute the "lies" that Governor Jackson Barreto (PMDB) was allegedly telling about him. Amorim criticized the press and presented documents that, according to him, prove his "innocence."
"Faced with the lies that are told daily by the pro-government press or in Jackson's electoral program, I could not remain silent and I will refute them one by one, so that the truth is always told. With documents and statements, I want to make it clear what is true and what is false," he stated.
Amorim then cited several cases involving his name that resulted in lawsuits, such as an alleged irregular loan from Banco do Brasil and his alleged involvement in the Banestado scandal. "In 1996, there was the Banco do Brasil issue, where I spent years proving my innocence. Because of that, I won a lawsuit against the bank precisely because I was completely innocent in that process," he said. Regarding Banestado, Amorim stated that the Superior Court of Justice proved his innocence.
Speaking about his company, Sisan, Edivan said that the renegotiation of a loan from Banco do Nordeste was done legally, “under the control and supervision of the Central Bank itself, which, following a technical recommendation from President Dilma Rousseff through the Ministry of Finance, issued a resolution on the matter.” He then stated that the company is in the name of his mother and his current wife, and not in the name of “front men.” “The press that is at Jackson’s service should tell the truth and stop lying to the people,” he attacked.
According to him, Sisan is registered in the name of his mother, Celina Amorim, and his wife, Eliane Bastos. "Everything is duly registered with the notary's office, the State Commercial Registry, and declared on their income tax returns. It's important that Jackson knows this and stops lying to the people," he stated.
Regarding the apartment where he resides, in the Luciano Barreto Júnior Mansion, Edivan said that the property is also in his wife's name. He then displayed a document that appeared to be her income tax return, showing the value of the apartment (over R$ 1 million) and shares in Sisan (over R$ 4 million).
“The apartment where I live with my wife and children is included in my current partner's income tax return. Anyone with a family can make this declaration option, as provided for by Brazilian law. This is a family asset. I cannot be blamed if he doesn't do the same,” he said.
In the program, Amorim also spoke about the loans taken out by the government, Proinveste and Proredes. Regarding the first, he said that the opposition was slow to vote because it wanted the projects to be itemized. As for Proredes, he recalled that the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office requested the cancellation of the loan.
Amorim also said that he decided to register his candidacy for state representative to "prove" that he has a "clean record." "I gathered all the documentation, certificates from the courts at all levels, and my candidacy was approved. So yes, I have a clean record," he stated. Against Jackson, he claimed that the governor is facing more than 130 lawsuits and demanded explanations about the government's relationship with the former director of Petrobras, Paulo Roberto Costa.
“An advertisement paid for by Jackson’s government came out showing a contract with the guy arrested for corruption at Petrobras. What was his connection to him? For Jackson, he blames Déda for everything that’s right. This government is a government of lies. Jackson, who are you trying to fool?” he questioned.
