Saopaulofc.com.br - Ney Franco is the new coach of São Paulo. A long-time target of the club, the coach of the Brazilian Under-20 National Team was invited by Tricolor to take over the team and accepted the invitation after receiving approval from the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, José Maria Marin.

"We've wanted to have Ney Franco on our team for a long time. Due to his other commitments, it wasn't possible before, but now, thankfully, everything worked out," explains the football director, Adalberto Baptista, who signed a contract with the new coach valid until the end of 2013.

The new São Paulo coach celebrated the agreement and expressed his joy at being able to lead a club like São Paulo.

"São Paulo is the ideal club to put my work philosophy into practice, which seeks to make the most of all professionals and, of course, to foster important exchanges with the youth categories," he assured.

Ney Franco says his experience in football qualifies him to do a good job leading the club. "It's a club where everyone has to prepare a lot to take on the role. With my professional experience and time in football, I am aware and convinced that I can do a great job," says the coach, who can't wait to start at his new club.

"I am very happy, eager and confident to start the work soon," added Ney Franco, who will be officially presented next Saturday at the Barra Funda Training Center, after the team's training session.

He was there between August 2009 and December 2010, winning the Paraná State Championship and the Brazilian Série B Championship in 2010.

Reinforcement: Denilson stays

São Paulo officially announced on Thursday the renewal of midfielder Denilson's loan contract with Arsenal, the club that holds the player's federative rights. The agreement, which expired on June 30th, was extended until June 30th, 2013.

The club's football director, Adalberto Baptista, was in Europe last week to negotiate with the English club. The final details were finalized this Thursday and the new agreement was sealed between the parties.

"Given Denilson's quality and the good season he's had here, Arsenal, quite rightly, initially didn't want to release the player. Fortunately, we had high-level talks with the English club's management and everything was resolved for the player to stay. I'm sure he will continue to help us a lot during this period," the director emphasized.

Denilson, who never hid his desire to remain at the club, is thrilled: "I'm very relieved, it's a great happiness. Now it's about being even more focused, working to lead São Paulo to titles," he said.

Having come up through São Paulo's youth system, Denilson returned to the club last year. Since then, he has played 37 matches and has been one of the team's key players. Therefore, he is available for selection by Milton Cruz for the match against Coritiba on Sunday at Morumbi Stadium, for the Brazilian Championship.

"I'm ready, rested. I spent a few days away from São Paulo to rest, so I'm ready to get back to work and train with my teammates. We have a very important game on Sunday," concluded the number 15, who returned to training this Thursday.
