The transfer of Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani to Paris St. Germain on Tuesday, for an estimated 64 million euros ($84,1 million), has left Napoli in a position to strengthen its squad for the Italian Serie A and the Champions League.

Asked in a Twitter conversation with fans about negotiations to bring in Argentine Higuaín and Brazilian Damião, De Laurentiis said: "That's true."

"Raúl Albiol is undergoing medical tests. We hope he passes," he added.

Last week, Napoli had already signed the versatile Spanish striker José Callejon from Real Madrid, after securing the arrival of Belgian full-back Dries Mertens. At the end of May, Napoli brought in Spanish coach Rafa Benítez to replace Walter Mazzarri, who left the position after winning the Italian runner-up title.
