In the TV war, Paulo Câmara has the advantage.
With the start of free television advertising on August 19th, the gubernatorial candidate for the Frente Popular, Paulo Câmara (PSB), the candidate from the "Pernambuco vai mais longe" coalition, Armando Monteiro (PTB), and the candidates Zé Gomes (PSOL), Miguel Anacleto (PCB), and Jair Pedro (PSTU), are already calculating the time they will have to present their projects during the election campaign. In a battle where television time is the candidates' greatest weapon, Paulo Câmara has an advantage; with 21 parties supporting him, Câmara will have 13 minutes in each 20-minute block, compared to only six minutes for Armando Monteiro, his main opponent.
Pernambuco 247 - Negotiations regarding party coalitions in Pernambuco are already beginning to define the TV time each candidate will have in the race for the Palácio do Campo das Princesas (Governor's Palace). Paulo Câmara has the largest number of parties supporting him on his ticket. There are 21 parties, including the PSB, DEM, PSDB, and PMDB of his running mate Raul Henry, which account for 13 minutes of airtime in each 20-minute block. In addition to Câmara and Henry, the ticket is completed by former minister and Senate candidate Fernando Bezerra Coelho (PSB).
Armando's ticket includes federal deputy Paulo Rubem (PDT) as vice-presidential candidate and federal deputy João Paulo (PT) as the candidate for the Senate. Armando's coalition includes PTB, PT, PSC, PRB, and PDT. PROS, which had guaranteed support for the PTB candidate, changed its plans and decided to support Câmara's candidacy. In total, Armando will have six minutes of TV time.
Zé Gomes Neto, who has the support of PSOL and PMN, will have two minutes and 16 seconds of TV time. Miguel Anacleto and Jair Pedro, because they are not part of a committee, will only have the minimum time to present their projects.
Free election advertising will be broadcast from Monday to Saturday, from 13 PM to 13:30 PM and from 20:30 PM to 21 PM. The segments featuring presidential and federal deputy candidates will be shown on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Candidates for Governor, Senate, and state assemblies will have their advertisements shown on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
