In the middle of rush hour, the first chords sounded and startled glances turned. As soon as the classical music filled the soundscape, which until then had been exclusively the sound of bus engines, attention was divided between the unexpected musical performance and the wait for transportation.

It was the first performance of the Obra Prima String Quartet in the Embarque Cultural Project, in the early evening of this Monday (21) at Terminal Cruzeiro, in Aparecida de Goiânia. Some passengers chose to arrive a little later at home and enjoy the show. This was the case of dental assistant Emivanda Ribeiro, a resident of Jardim Nova Era also in Aparecida, who praised the initiative.

“It’s perfect, I loved it!”, she exclaimed while filming the performance with her cell phone to show her boyfriend, who plays saxophone at the church they attend. Emivanda had never attended a classical music concert before. “I’m going home feeling much more relieved. We arrive here at the Terminal very stressed from work and traffic. To arrive here and hear some nice music is wonderful,” she commented.

Saulo Ramos was waiting for his third bus to go home when he heard the music and crossed the terminal looking for where the sound was coming from. The 24-year-old accounting assistant was returning home from his job, located in Cidade Jardim. For Saulo, it's great to have cultural events at the terminals.

“We’ve been listening to some very appealing music lately, and it’s great to be able to have good music in a place like this, full of hustle and bustle and stressed people,” he said. He added that he would like projects like this to be more common, so that more people have access to quality music to soothe their spirits.

The Cultural Embarkation Project continues until Friday, October 25th, at five terminals in the Goiânia Metropolitan Region. Tomorrow, it's the turn of the Recanto do Bosque Terminal at 6:30 AM, with a theatrical performance by the Cia de Boca do Lixo and the group Os KaCo, and at 6:30 PM with the Obra Prima String Quartet playing classical music.
