Goiás247 - Further convictions for the crime of active corruption and an increase in the sentence imposed. To this end, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Goiás (MPF) filed an appeal with the Regional Federal Court of the 1st Region (TRF1), requesting a partial reform of the sentence handed down by the 11th Federal Court that convicted the leadership of the criminal organization dismantled by the so-called "Operation Monte Carlo". With this, the MPF seeks an increase in the sentence imposed on Carlos Augusto de Almeida Ramos, head of the criminal group, and also on seven other individuals involved.

Cachoeira was sentenced to 39 years, 8 months, and 10 days in prison, under a closed regime, and a fine of 1.024 days. But he appealed and is free. After his release, the racketeer got married and is frequently seen in Goiânia. His last public appearance was at the hairdresser, which made headlines in the newspaper (hereThere are reports that Cachoeira had significant influence over three political parties in Goiás with the goal of forming a small bloc in the National Congress.hereThe group would be headed by the woman, Andressa Mendonça, who joined the PSL party in time and may run for a seat in the Federal Chamber.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) argues in its appeal to the TRF1 (Regional Federal Court of the 1st Region) that, although the judge who delivered the sentence considered practically all the judicial circumstances unfavorable to the convicts, the sanctions were set insufficiently to achieve the objectives of the penalty related to the repression and prevention of crimes, especially due to the high number of criminal events recognized in the conviction. Furthermore, according to the MPF, other factors related to the social conduct, the personality of the convicts, and the consequences of the crimes committed should have been considered by the judge when setting the base sentence.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) therefore requested that the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1) partially reform the sentence of the judge of the 11th Federal Court and, consequently, recalculate the penalties, setting them as follows:

Carlos Augusto de Almeida Ramos: from 39 years, 8 months and 10 days of imprisonment and 1024 days of fines, in a closed regime, to 50 years, 5 months and 10 days of imprisonment and 1.318 days of fines, to be served initially in a closed regime.

Lenine Araújo de Souza: from 24 years and 4 months of imprisonment and 473 days of fines, in a closed regime, to 40 years and 4 months of imprisonment and 845 days of fines, to be served initially in a closed regime.
