Alagoas247 - An operation, launched this Wednesday morning (8), by the State Group for Combating Criminal Organizations (Gecoc), of the State Public Ministry (MPE), collects documents in two municipal bodies in Marechal Deodoro, in the metropolitan region of Maceió. The prosecutors are looking for materials at the City Hall and the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat.

Information verified with the Marechal police station indicates that a large police operation is supporting the members of Gecoc. The areas where the prosecutors are located have been isolated.

The Public Prosecutor's Office intends to collect documents that will support an investigation initiated to check for possible damages to public funds. The operation is executing search and seizure warrants issued by the 17th Criminal Court of the Capital, at the request of Gecoc and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Marechal.

The coordinator of the State Group for Combating Criminal Organizations (Gecoc), Alfredo Gaspar de Mendonça, reported that the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE) is in the second stage of the investigation into evidence of embezzlement at the Marechal Deodoro City Hall. The investigation into this case began last year, approximately eight months ago, according to the prosecutor. Now, the MPE is conducting thorough searches in three departments, including the City Hall headquarters.

The Gecoc's stance was taken after the judges of the 17th Criminal Court of the Capital issued four search and seizure warrants requested by both the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Marechal Deodoro. The team, led by prosecutors Alfredo Gaspar and Luiz Tenório, visited the City Hall, the Municipal Attorney's Office, the Municipal Finance Department, and the Municipal Works Department. Several files were collected from the building housing the Permanent Bidding Commission (CPL).

From these agencies, various documents were collected, mainly containing the financial transactions of the Executive Branch of that city. The material will be analyzed by Gecoc and will serve as a basis for verifying the allegation that there was misappropriation of funds committed over the past few years.
