Alagoas247 - The coordinator of the Via do Trabalho Movement (MVT), Marcos Antônio da Silva, known as “Marrom”, announced the blocking of state and federal highways in Alagoas this Friday (27). According to him, the demonstrations are part of the National Day of Struggles that will extend until April.
Marrom reported that there are roadblocks in Novo Lino, on BR-101; in Rio Largo and União dos Palmares, on BR-104; between Teotônio Vilela and Junqueiro, on BR-101; and between Cajueiro and Capela, on AL-210 and BR-316. In addition to these locations, there may also be protests in Coruripe, Porto Calvo, and Maceió.
The MVT, which brings together homeless and landless families, demands a meeting with representatives of the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) in Brasília (DF) to discuss the expropriation of lands belonging to the João Lyra Group (JL), which has more than 30 occupied properties, as well as to demand "transparency and fairness" in the process of public calls for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Ater) throughout the State.
Another item on the agenda is the request for a meeting with representatives from the Superintendency of Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), the State Secretariat of Infrastructure (Seinfra), and the municipalities, with the objective of addressing the outstanding issues left by the "Reconstruction Program" executed by the State government with funds from the Union.
“In all the housing complexes for the victims of the 2010 floods, there are outstanding issues,” denounced Marrom. The MVT also demands that the state government's public security department combat the actions of alleged armed groups that are threatening landless encampments on various occupied properties belonging to the JL Group in Alagoas.
