Camarão, a musician and Pernambuco national treasure, has died.

247 - A living heritage of Pernambuco since 2002, the Pernambuco accordionist Reginaldo Alves Ferreira, known as Camarão, died this Tuesday (21) at the age of 74. The musician had been hospitalized at Hospital Santa Joana, in Recife, since last Saturday for tests when he presented a case of generalized infection. The location and time of the wake and burial have not yet been defined by the family.

Born in Brejo da Madre de Deus, in the Agreste region of the state, Reginaldo earned the nickname "Camarão" (Shrimp) from the singer Jacinto Silva, who joked about the accordion player's reddish face. The accordion player accompanied great artists of Brazilian music. In more than 50 years of career, Camarão played alongside names like Sivuca, Hermeto Pascoal and the king of baião, Luiz Gonzaga. His trajectory was marked by his mastery of genres of Northeastern music, from xote to xaxado; from forró to baião.
