Palmeiras Agency - Palmeiras and Mirassol played this Saturday afternoon for the 17th round of the Campeonato Paulista, at Pacaembu. The novelty for the game was the return of Maikon Leite, and the main absence was Valdivia, who suffered an injury in the last match and should return to the field within 30 days. Marcos Assunção was also rested by coach Felipão. Superior in both halves, the Mirassol team knew how to take advantage of the mistakes of the Palmeiras squad and secured a 1-0 victory.

The match began without many attacking opportunities, with plays mainly made from the flanks by João Vitor, Daniel Carvalho, and Márcio Araújo. The first good chance came in the 12th minute when Wesley was released down the left, but the number 87 mishit the ball, which went out of play. In the 13th minute, on a counter-attack, Henrique Dias broke away and fired a powerful shot, the ball passing very close to Deola's crossbar. Two minutes later, Daniel Carvalho made a beautiful pass to Wesley, who shot across goal and almost scored the first for Palmeiras.

At 21 minutes, after a mistake by the Palmeiras defense, the opposing midfielder, Sérgio Manoel, was one-on-one with Deola and shot wide. After that play, the game remained balanced. At 34 minutes, Daniel Carvalho crossed into the area and Barcos headed very close to the goal, but the striker was offside. Moments later, Sérgio Manoel received a cross from the right and, unmarked, missed the goal again. Deola, at 40 minutes, made a good save after a cross from Preto on the right. 6 minutes later, the referee blew the whistle for halftime.

The first half was marked by few chances for Verdão and some errors that almost gave goals to the opposing team. Many spaces were open on the field, which also facilitated Mirassol's attacks.

The second half began without any changes to the Palmeiras team. At the 10-minute mark, Wesley was released, dribbled past the defense, and took a shot on goal. On the rebound, the defender almost scored an own goal. In both instances, goalkeeper Fernando Leal made excellent saves. Moments later, Wesley shot again, and on the rebound, Daniel Carvalho missed the best opportunity of the match so far.

At 23 minutes, after a rebound in the attacking half, Preto broke away and, at the edge of the area, touched the ball past Deola, opening the scoring for the Mirassol team. 4 minutes later, Xuxa took a free kick from the right and sent it towards the left corner of Deola's goal, who stretched out to make a beautiful save.

After the opposing team scored, Palmeiras tried to attack more often, but without success. Mirassol's team closed ranks in their own half and didn't give Palmeiras players any space to shoot on goal.

Maikon Leite, in the 41st minute of the second half, got past the Mirassol defense and shot hard, forcing another great save from Fernando Leal. In the 49th minute, the referee blew the final whistle.
