Public Prosecutor's Office says no to Arena Palestra.
After WTorre suspended construction on Thursday, the Public Prosecutor's Office notified the club of problems regarding the continuation of the renovation.
247_ The Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo suggested to the city government the suspension of construction work at Parque Antártica due to waterproofing problems in the area. The club has already received the notification, reports journalist Ricardo Perrone on his blog on UOL. This new problem is yet another ghost haunting the disastrous construction of the Arena Palestra. On the morning of Wednesday the 11th, WTorre suspended the continuation of the work until the Palmeiras board delivers the deed to the stadium. This was a promise made days ago by businessman Walter Torre. Six hundred workers were dismissed from their jobs, and another 200 are at the construction site for maintenance activities. Torre complains about not having obtained the deed to the land where Palmeiras is located, in the Água Branca neighborhood, as a guarantee for the investments that have been made in the project. The club's president, Arnaldo Tirone, who had been adamant about not delivering the deed, as stipulated in the contract, has given signs that he may change his mind.
