My Home My Life program may be suspended in Tocantins.
Senator Donizeti Nogueira (PT) met this Tuesday, the 24th, with the Minister of Cities, Gilberto Kassab, to discuss possibilities for making Decree 820 more flexible at the Ministry of Cities. This decree suspends and mandates the return of funds from the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program to municipalities with 50 inhabitants that have not completed 50% of their construction projects. According to Donizeti, the administration of Marcelo Miranda (PMDB) initiated a task force to revive the program in the state, correcting flaws and establishing a feasible schedule. The minister committed to analyzing the situation in Tocantins.
Tocantins 247 - A decision by the Ministry of Cities regarding the "Minha Casa Minha Vida" (My House, My Life) program for municipalities with populations of up to 50 inhabitants could directly affect Tocantins, jeopardizing program projects in most cities.
Decree 820, signed by former Minister Gilberto Occhi on December 30, 2014, establishes a deadline of September 30, 2015, for the completion of works in these municipalities. After this deadline, resources will only be released to municipalities with works at least 50% complete. Below that percentage, municipalities will have to return already released funds and will not receive new funding. Tocantins ended previous administrations with one of the lowest rates of home delivery under the Minha Casa Minha Vida program.
To try to prevent the measure from harming ongoing works in Tocantins, Senator Donizeti Nogueira (PT) met this Tuesday, the 24th, with Minister Gilberto Kassab to discuss possibilities for making Ordinance 820 more flexible.
Donizeti Nogueira explained to Minister Kassab that the Marcelo Miranda (PMDB) administration initiated a task force in partnership with the municipalities and the Ministry of Agrarian Development to revive the program in the state, correcting flaws and with an executable schedule, ensuring that families in Tocantins have guaranteed housing.
According to information released by the senator's press office, the minister was receptive to the senator's appeal, and a meeting with the participation of the Tocantins government, the banks involved, and the Tocantins Association of Municipalities should be scheduled to resolve the issue.
