"My Home, My Life" delivers 500 units
500 housing units from the Federal Government's "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" (My House, My Life) Program were delivered to needy families in the municipality of Pilar, located in the greater Maceió area. For the next 10 years, beneficiaries of the Federal Government Program will pay a monthly fee ranging from R$ 25 to R$ 45. Present at the event, Senator Fernando Collor (PTB-AL) stated that the delivery of the houses "reinforces the commitment of former President Lula and President Dilma Rousseff to eradicate the housing deficit throughout the country."
Alagoas247 - The mayor of the municipality of Pilar, Carlos Alberto Canuto (PMDB), and Senator Fernando Collor de Mello (PTB) participated, on the morning of this Friday (29), in the ceremony of handing over 500 housing units of the federal government program 'Minha Casa, Minha Vida' to needy families in the municipality that is part of the metropolitan region of Maceió, with the hundreds of people benefited assuming a monthly fee, for the next 10 years, which varies between R$ 25 and R$ 45, depending on the income bracket.
The City Hall donated the land used for the construction of the houses in the Benedito Cavalcante de Barros housing complex, in Chã do Pilar, making possible the realization of long-awaited life projects, as in the case of 70-year-old Maria Aparecida. “I got my first house in my life. I am very happy to be able to realize a great dream and at the same time sad to know that I only achieved it now,” said the emotional farmer.
On that occasion, Mayor Carlos Alberto Canuto highlighted the joint effort to provide quality of life to the population of Pilar. “The support of Senators Fernando Collor and Renan Calheiros (PMDB) was fundamental in enabling us to unblock the construction of these houses in Pilar,” stated Canuto, recalling that his administration “is already putting the city back on the path to development.” “The greatest proof of this is the recognition from the population in the streets. Everyone can expect better days,” he added.
Herbert Buenos Aires, superintendent of Caixa Econômica Federal in Alagoas, was also present and highlighted his satisfaction in being able to attend the handover ceremony of the residences, which have two bedrooms, in a fully serviced housing complex.
Also present, the alternate senator for Fernando Collor, Euclydes Mello, referred to the federal government's commitment. “This project is yet another demonstration of the affection for Alagoas. Thanks to the work of the senators and federal deputies, we were able to complete this stage of a great dream. And while the governor [Teotonio Vilela] continues to lie, pointing to himself the responsibility for the federal works, President Dilma Rousseff works tirelessly. Thanks to her, the state of Alagoas is not in an even worse situation. The governor should stop lying, as he lied when he claimed he would put a thousand men in the Military Police per year, something that was never done,” he stated.
Senator Fernando Collor, who also highlighted the City Hall's contribution, couldn't hide his gratitude for the affection shown by the people of Pilar. “I am very happy to be able to return to this city, which always welcomes me with open arms. During Mayor Canuto's administration, 1.500 houses will be delivered to those who need them most. Canuto won the election in Pilar three times, serving eight-year terms, and now he is returning to win at the polls and in court,” stated the senator, recalling that the residences were the subject of complaints of irregularities during the previous administration regarding the registration of the beneficiary families.
“When Canuto took office, he resolved this issue with Caixa, speeding up the process. And these houses reinforce the commitment of former President Lula and President Dilma Rousseff to eradicate the housing deficit throughout the country. And this commitment to the population, on the part of Mayor Canuto, is daily. The greatest proof is in this social action, benefiting countless needy people,” he added.
