Minas Agency - The states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Paraná, Mato Grosso and Rondônia signed, on Monday night (3), a technical cooperation agreement within the scope of the states' social defense and security systems, for the implementation of joint actions aimed at combating crime. For Minas Gerais, the document was signed by Vice-Governor Alberto Pinto Coelho, during the opening ceremony of the joint meeting of the National Council of Public Security Secretaries (Consesp) and the National Council of Chiefs of Civil Police (CONCPC), held in Belo Horizonte.

According to the cooperation agreement, information, especially the promotion of police actions and operations aimed at preventing and suppressing the trafficking of illicit drugs and firearms, will be shared between the states. The document also provides for the strategic planning of joint police actions aimed at preventing and combating acts of violence and crime, as well as the exchange of professionals from the respective states for the sharing of information and best practices.

Alberto Pinto Coelho emphasized that, throughout recent governments, Minas Gerais has channeled resources towards developing activities inherent to strengthening the civil and military police forces. "The signing of this commitment agreement is important and is not limited to the territorial division of federated entities. There is nothing better than the opportunity to have this exchange on such relevant topics to generate, for sure, new paths and alternatives," he stated.

The Secretary of State for Social Defense of Minas Gerais, Rômulo de Carvalho Ferraz, highlighted the start of operations at the state borders. "Today we began an operation at the borders of the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, and São Paulo to combat serious criminal practices," he stated.
