Chinese media comments on 'signs' following US arms sale to Taiwan.
China, through its new list of sanctions, clearly demonstrates its firmness and determination in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to media reports.
China Radio International China's Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday (7) that, in accordance with China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, it has decided to sanction five US defense industry companies. This is a counter-attack in response to the new round of arms sales to Taiwan by the US and sanctions against Chinese companies and individuals, serving as a stern warning to some US individuals who use the Taiwan issue to interfere in China's internal affairs.
The five companies are BAE Systems Land and Armament, Alliant Techsystems Operation, AeroVironment, ViaSat, and Data Link Solutions. All participated in the new U.S. arms sales project to Taiwan. Last December, the U.S. Department of Defense approved the sale of $300 million worth of military equipment to the Chinese region of Taiwan. This U.S. conduct violates the One China principle and the stipulations of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, particularly the joint communiqué of August 17, 1982, as well as violating the political promises made by the U.S. leader at the meeting with the Chinese president in San Francisco.
An agency affiliated with the U.S. Department of Defense stated that the objective of this arms sale to Taiwan is to improve the command, control, and communication capabilities of Taiwanese troops and to strengthen the region's so-called "defense capabilities." Observers pointed out that previous U.S. sales to Taiwan were primarily aircraft, missiles, drones, and other weapons of war, and that building combat power depends on communication, electronics, command, control, and networking to form a complete system. "The new U.S. arms sales aim to improve Taiwan's military 'software' capabilities."
Those who play with fire end up getting burned. The Chinese countermeasures consist of freezing the assets of these five companies in China, including their movable and immovable property, as well as prohibiting organizations and individuals in China from doing business with them or cooperating with them.
China, through this list of sanctions, clearly demonstrates its firmness and determination to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Facts will prove that no matter how many weapons the US supplies to Taiwan, they will not be able to stop the historic process of Chinese reunification.
