Agência Brasil - The deadline for submitting the Annual Declaration of the Individual Microentrepreneur (DASN-SIMEI), relating to the 2011 calendar year, ends at the end of today (31) (at 23:59 pm, Brasília time). The declaration can be found on the internet on the Simples Nacional page. According to the Simples Management Committee, an individual entrepreneur is a person who works independently, legally registered as a small business owner. It is necessary to have a maximum annual revenue of R$ 60, not to have participation in another company as a partner or owner, and to have one employee hired who receives the minimum wage or the category's minimum wage.

Taxpayers who fail to submit within the deadline will start paying, from tomorrow (1), a fine of 2% per month on the value of the taxes calculated, limited to 20%, with a minimum of R$ 50.

According to the tax authorities, the fine will be automatically generated along with the delivery receipt when the tax return is filed. The tax authorities state that if the fine is paid within 30 days of filing, it is reduced by 50%.
