Federal Deputy Mendonça Prado (DEM) has once again denounced alleged persecution by brothers Eduardo and Edivan Amorim, candidates for governor and state deputy, respectively, in this year's elections; "I am being persecuted by the coalition led by the Amorim brothers. The head, Edivan Amorim, ordered journalist Carlos Batalha, owner of the production company that makes the coalition's programs, not to broadcast my electoral program on TV and radio," denounced Mendonça, who maintains his opposition to his group's decision to support them; Batalha says the directive is for all candidates to ask for votes for governor and senator.
City Newspaper - Federal deputy Mendonça Prado (DEM) once again denounced an alleged persecution promoted by brothers Eduardo and Edivan Amorim, candidates for governor and state deputy, respectively, in this year's elections.
"I am being persecuted by the coalition led by the Amorim brothers. The boss, Edivan Amorim, gave orders to the journalist Carlos Batalha, owner of the production company that makes the coalition's programs, not to broadcast my electoral program on TV and radio," denounced Mendonça, who maintains a position contrary to his group's decision to support them.
According to Prado, who has been campaigning independently from the group led by Mayor João Alves Filho (DEM) – whose son-in-law he is – the objective of the initiative is to harm his campaign and weaken him politically.
"In truth, they want to establish a dictatorship in this state, silencing their opponents and suppressing freedom of expression and thought. They want to defeat me by any means necessary, because I am the only politician who has the courage to confront them and say what they truly are," declared the Democrat, emphasizing that "rest assured that Mendonça Prado does not sell out and does not surrender, and will remain steadfast in the fight for a better country."
In a conversation with the JORNAL DA CIDADE news team, journalist Carlos Batalha clarified that he is not the owner of the video production company mentioned by Mendonça Prado. The company belongs to his children and was hired by the coalition to record videos for the proportional candidates.
Batalha made it clear that the determination is that all candidates should ask for votes for governor and senator. "Besides Mendonça, other names did not appear in the election broadcasts for the same reason: Captain Samuel, Valmir da Madeireira, and Goretti Reis are some examples," he explained.
