Alagoas247 - “Only the emergency units are functioning. There are no doctors attending through the PSF [Family Health Program] or in health centers. And this is happening all over Brazil,” said the president of the Alagoas Doctors Union (Sinmed), Wellington Galvão.

The mobilization is taking place as a sign of protest against recent measures taken by the federal government that have left the medical community dissatisfied. Among these decisions is the creation of the "More Doctors" plan, which aims to bring foreign doctors to work in remote areas of Brazil, and the presidential sanction of the Medical Act with several vetoes considered important for the regulation of the profession.

“Next week, we intend to distribute leaflets and continue these mobilization activities. And during these days of the strike, even some professionals from the private sector should stop their activities. Because these are national demands that concern all doctors,” said the president of Sinmed.
