MD wants Eliana in Bahia to help Eduardo.
The leader of the new party resulting from the PPS-PMN merger, federal deputy Roberto Freire, is offering the MD party to the STJ minister to run for governor of Bahia or a seat in the Senate; if she refuses, Freire plans to support Senator Lídice da Mata, of the PSB, in the succession of Jaques Wagner (PT) to create a platform for Eduardo Campos in the fourth largest electoral college in the country; the party is born powerful in Bahia and could have the largest bloc in the Municipal Chamber, with eight councilors; one of the largest in the Legislative Assembly, with six parliamentarians; and should also have four federal deputies.
Bahia 247 - Born from the merger of PPS and PMN, the MD (Democratic Mobilization) emerges with ambitious plans for 2014. Besides offering a party affiliation to José Serra (PSDB) to run for governor of São Paulo, the party, led by federal deputy Roberto Freire, president of the former PPS, intends to launch the Minister of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), Eliana Calmon, as a candidate for governor of Bahia or senator.
According to a report by Bahia Notícias, the minister has not yet responded. And if she declines, the Ministry of Defense already has an alternative route. According to the website, Freire plans to support Senator Lídice da Mata, of the PSB party, in the race for Governor of Bahia. The ambitious goal would be to provide support to the candidacy of the Governor of Pernambuco and president of the PSB, Eduardo Campos, for the presidency of the Republic in the fourth largest electoral college in Brazil.
The initial idea, according to a publication by Bahia Notícias, was to support the 'strong' candidacy of Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) for governor, but given the Democrat's refusal, the plan is to launch Calmon or support Lídice, if the minister does not undertake the endeavor.
The MB (Brazilian Movement Party) is born powerful in Bahia, as it could have the largest bloc in the City Council, with eight councilors, and one of the largest in the Legislative Assembly, with six parliamentarians, and also four federal deputies.
For the municipal parliament, the following are being considered: Orlando Palhinha (PP), Euvaldo Jorge (PP), Alberto Braga (PSC), José Trindade (PSL), Alemão (PRP), David Rios (who recently switched from PTB to PSD), and Joceval Rodrigues (leader of ACM's government) and Cátia Rodrigues, who have left PPS and PMN respectively.
In the Assembly, the new party will start with deputies Elmar Nascimento (PR, leader of the opposition), Sandro Régis (PR), Targino Machado (PSC), Bruno Reis (PRP), in addition to two dissatisfied government supporters.
In the Federal Chamber, the MB should be represented by Marcos Medrado (PDT), Maurício Trindade (PR), Erivelton Santana (PSC) and Jânio Natal (PRP).
