Maria do Carmo believes in her victory. De Amorim, however, doesn't seem so sure.
Senator and reelection candidate Maria do Carmo Alves (DEM) has already voted; accompanied by her husband and mayor of Aracaju, João Alves Filho (DEM), gubernatorial candidate Eduardo Amorim (PSC), and political allies, she says she "worked very hard" and doesn't see the possibility of not winning the election. When the subject is Amorim, Maria seems hesitant. "It's very difficult to say whether he will win or if there will be a second round. It's better to wait for the result," she said.
Sergipe 247 - Senator and reelection candidate Maria do Carmo Alves (DEM) arrived at around 10:10 am at Colégio Atheneu, her and her husband's polling place, the mayor of Aracaju, João Alves (DEM). Before voting, she spoke to the press, greeted allies, and waited in line for a few minutes to exercise her civic duty.
According to the senator, she "worked to win the election." "With faith in God, we will win," she stated. When questioned about Eduardo Amorim's victory, she expressed doubt. "It's very difficult to say whether he will win or if there will be a second round. It's better to wait for the result."
The senator's first alternate, Ricardo Franco, also voted at the Atheneu School. He was accompanied by his wife and children. He preferred not to speak to the press, but expressed confidence in Maria's victory.
