Mares Guia says he has a side. And it's not Eduardo's.
Lula's former Minister of Institutional Relations left the presidency of the PSB in Minas Gerais because he did not support the candidacy of the governor of Pernambuco for the Presidency: "If I had known about Eduardo's candidacy, I wouldn't have joined the PSB"; Walfrido will work on President Dilma Rousseff's reelection campaign.
Minas247_ Former Minister of Institutional Relations Walfrido Mares Guia will work for the re-election of President Dilma Rousseff. He left the presidency of the PSB in Minas Gerais because he disagreed with the candidacy of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos. The former minister under Lula denies that he was removed from the leadership of the party in the state and affirms that, if he had known that Eduardo would be a candidate, he wouldn't have even joined the PSB. "In politics, you have to take a side," he advises.
A friend of former president Lula, Walfrido gave an interview to the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo in which he stated that he is friends with Eduardo, but that the candidacy was a surprise to him. "I have a commitment to Lula and to President Dilma."
Walfrido categorically denies that he was purged from the party leadership. “There was no stress. How could I remain in charge of the PSB in Minas Gerais if I can't defend the candidacy of the national president of the PSB? Eduardo received me very well at a dinner in Recife. We talked for four hours. I took the initiative to ask to leave and he understood. I don't have one foot in each camp. In politics, you have to take sides.”
