Marconi: "The opposition was left without a discourse on health."
"Our opponents have lost their argument: they were against Social Organizations and against all the changes we made in hospitals. Now that they've seen that they've worked, they question the efficiency of the oversight. I say that we oversee the Social Organizations better than any other state does," said the governor in a meeting with healthcare professionals.
Goiás247 - At an event with healthcare professionals in Goiânia, Governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB) presented positive results from investments made in the sector and compared projects and initiatives of his administration with those of his opponents. At the Convention and Culture Center, Marconi was accompanied by the former Secretary of State for Health, Antônio Faleiros, a candidate for federal deputy.
“Our opponents have lost their argument: they were against the Social Organizations and against all the changes we made. Now that they've seen that they've worked, they question the efficiency of the oversight. I say that we oversee the Social Organizations better than any other state does,” said Marconi, citing the bodies responsible for this, such as the Goiana Regulatory Agency (AGR), the State Attorney General's Office, departments within the State Health Secretariat itself, and even the State Court of Auditors (TCE). “Each hospital has to report to these bodies. This model has worked, and we will advance much further, especially in valuing healthcare workers, who I have always respected,” he added.
Next, Marconi highlighted the excellent results of the Social Organizations (OSs) that are in charge of managing several hospitals in the state. “When we open Hugo 2, the people of Goiás will be amazed by such a well-built and well-equipped unit, with 480 beds, 21 operating rooms, and 80 ICU beds,” said the governor. In addition to mentioning Hugo 2, Marconi also emphasized the quality of care in other units, such as the Maternal and Child Hospital (HMI), the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HDT), and hospitals located in Anápolis and Trindade, for example.
Comparison
In his speech, Marconi also recalled governments from opposition parties, which, according to him, acted as "executioners" towards public servants and the general population. "These are people who delayed salaries, who didn't pay the 13th-month salary in the current year, who didn't grant raises, and who left the Goiânia General Hospital (HGG) closed for eight years because they believed that an open hospital was too expensive. Today, we invest R$ 50 million a month in hospitals so that everyone is well cared for."
The governor recalled the beginning of the process that resulted in the arrival of the Social Organizations (OSs) to the state government. It all started with the Dr. Henrique Santillo Rehabilitation and Readaptation Center (CRER). “At that time, we decided to 'test' this type of project. And it worked.” The second unit was the Anápolis Emergency Hospital, in 2005. “From there, we expanded the initiative, always under the management of the then Secretary Antônio Faleiros who, due to all his characteristics, had sensitivity to the area of health. Hence the excellent results we have today,” he celebrated.
Marconi reiterated that the opponents who today present themselves with "outlandish promises" are the same ones who, in the not-too-distant past, "fiercely" criticized anything that represented a prospect of improvement for the lives of the people of Goiás. "Things have been happening for the better, without demagoguery, without politicking. We faced things as they should be faced. And there were many people who didn't want us to make the changes that were made. There were some people who didn't want to take it seriously, although in healthcare we know that 99% take the work seriously."
