Goiás 247 - Governor Marconi Perillo called on Monday for all state security forces to mobilize nationwide in support of the creation of a National Public Security Fund. The call for engagement was made during a ceremony to deliver 200 new vehicles, bulletproof vests, weapons, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department, and the Superintendency of the Technical-Scientific Police (STPC). The ceremony, held at the Civil Police Academy, brought together, in addition to the vice-governor and Secretary of Public Security, José Eliton, the General Commander of the Military Police, Colonel Divino Alves, the Director-General of the Civil Police, Álvaro Cássio, the Director of the Military Fire Department, Carlos Helbingen, and members of the three corporations.

Marconi pointed out that, in the event of a vote on constitutional earmarking, states will not necessarily have to allocate fewer resources to the sector. "The state government would continue investing this amount (12,5%), but more is needed," he said. According to him, the federal government has an "obligation" to guarantee more resources for public security in order to protect citizens. "With more money, we will be able to implement security policies and protect citizens," the governor justified.

According to Marconi, the state government has invested substantial resources in Public Security. To give an idea, every year and a half the fleet of 2.141 vehicles is replaced, and next year, another 700 new vehicles will reinforce the state's fleet for this area. "If everyone starts sending emails, we can change this reality," he urged the audience, composed of delegates, agents, and civil and military police officers.

Regarding the economic crisis the country is going through, he stated that the main concern is not with the current situation, but with long-term structural measures. "I'm not going to let things fall apart in my government," said Marconi, emphasizing that he will be governor for just over a year and a half and that it is necessary to think about government policies focused on the future. "Our main concern is with responsibility and fiscal austerity," he noted.

According to the governor, the tripod of any good public administration is composed of Public Security, Health, and Education: "Investing in these pillars is to guarantee the foundations for development in the short, medium, and long term." Finally, Marconi gave special thanks to the vice-governor for accepting the challenge of leading one of the "toughest and most difficult" areas of the State, which is Public Security, but that his selection had a special meaning: "Who is going to fail to recognize the legitimate claims of someone like the vice-governor of the State who has carte blanche from the governor?"

Governor delivers 200 more new vehicles.

At today's ceremony, 200 vehicles were allocated to the Civil and Military Police, the Fire Department, the Superintendencies of the Forensic Science Police, and the Penitentiary Administration. In addition, 500 new women's ballistic vests were allocated to the Civil Police. In the first phase, in October of this year, 400 new vehicles were delivered to the Military Police and the Superintendencies of the Forensic Science Police and Penitentiary Administration.

Investments in renewing contracts with four vehicle rental companies for an additional 24 months amount to approximately R$ 133,3 million.

According to the governor, the goal is to provide greater security and efficiency to police officers in carrying out their operational, investigative, and administrative duties. The vehicles will be distributed to police units in Goiânia, the Goiânia Metropolitan Region, and the interior of the state. The renewal of the entire fleet will be done in stages.
