Marconi: The city of Goiás is the epitome of the republican spirit of our governments.
At the ceremony to transfer the capital to the City of Goiás, the first after ending his fourth term as head of the State, former governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB) stated on Tuesday night (24) that the municipality is the synthesis of the republican sentiment and spirit of his administrations alongside Governor José Eliton; on behalf of Mayor Selma Bastos (PT), who listed the works and benefits of the Government of Goiás for the city, Marconi thanked the authorities and those honored with the Anhanguera Merit Commendation, which marks the installation of the Three Powers, for the "opportunity to govern in partnership"
Goiás 247 - At the ceremony to transfer the capital to the City of Goiás, the first after the end of his fourth term as governor, former governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB) stated on Tuesday evening (July 24th) that the municipality is the epitome of the republican sentiment and spirit of his administrations alongside Governor José Eliton. Speaking on behalf of Mayor Selma Bastos (PT), who listed the works and benefits the Government of Goiás has provided to the city, Marconi thanked the authorities and those honored with the Anhanguera Merit Commendation, which marks the establishment of the Three Powers, for the "opportunity to govern in partnership".
"At the invitation of Mayor Selma, I am once again pleased to come to the city of Goiás to participate in the ceremony transferring the capital to our beloved Vila Boa, with its culture and traditions. The city of Goiás is the epitome of the republican sentiment and spirit that has always guided and defined our governments and now guides the government of José Eliton, to whom I wish much success," said Marconi. "I thank Mayor Selma for her words of recognition and all those present for this opportunity to govern in partnership," he stated.
“For 15 years I have had the pleasure of presiding over this important, emblematic and beautiful ceremony, which fills our souls with the tradition that our beloved Vila Boa de Goiás represents,” said Marconi. “This is the 57th time that the Powers have been transferred to the former capital of the State. Marconi also attends the awarding of the Order of Merit Anhanguera to personalities who have distinguished themselves through relevant services rendered to the State.
Following a protocol that has become a tradition in the Government of Goiás, Governor José Eliton today transferred the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of Goiás from Goiânia to the city of Goiás, which was the official capital until 1933. Until Thursday, the former capital of Goiás will serve as the symbolic capital of the state, in honor of the city's anniversary, celebrated on July 26th.
José Eliton will have a busy schedule over the three days. Today, starting at 18 PM, he presided over the ceremony for the installation of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government and the awarding of the Order of Merit Anhanguera, at Praça do Chafariz. Starting at 20 PM, performances by Trio Parada Dura and singers from Goiás will liven up the evening, in celebration of the 291st anniversary of the city of Goiás, at Praça de Eventos Dr. Boadyr Veloso.
