Goiás 247 - After a rush of 35 meetings with mayors on Tuesday (February 21st) at the Pedro Ludovico Palace, Governor Marconi Perillo reached the mark of 244 managers received in individual meetings. Partnerships were established and the government finalized agreements and should invest R$ 500 million in these partnerships with the municipalities, according to the governor. On social media, after concluding the marathon of meetings, Marconi wrote that the experience was unprecedented and transformative.
Meetings with the remaining mayors began in the early evening. The mayor of Lagoa Santa, Adivair Gonçalves de Macedo (PSD), stated that the meeting was “very productive.” He said he received assurances from the governor that the requests presented would be met. “Our city needs a sports gymnasium and paved roads, and the governor affirmed that he will help us,” declared Macedo, who praised Marconi Perillo's approach in meeting with 244 mayors and proposing administrative partnerships, regardless of party affiliations. “[Marconi] does work for the people. And he is right. He shouldn't look at party affiliation, but rather at the people and the needs of each municipality,” he pointed out.
Accompanied by state representative Virmondes Cruvinel, Mayor Murilo César da Silva (PP, of Córrego do Ouro) delivered official letters with requests for the municipality. Among the main requests were paved roads and a reduction in the city's housing deficit. The governor stated that he would prioritize housing units and asked the mayor to contact the Goiana Housing Agency (Agehab) to finalize the terms of the agreement, which will be signed between the state government and the city hall, for the construction of the houses. "We were very well received by the governor and he made a commitment to help us," he declared.
"I am a supporter of Marconi"
The mayor of Diorama, Valéria Ferreira dos Santos (PT), participated in the meeting accompanied by state deputies Virmondes Cruvinel and Carlos Kabral, representatives of the city in the Legislative Assembly. She said she admires Marconi Perillo's way of governing, despite being affiliated with a party that opposes the government. "I'm a supporter of Marconi and I helped you in the second round [in 2014]," the mayor revealed to the governor. "He is a municipalist political leader who doesn't consider partisan issues," she praised, adding that Diorama was "benefited from resources for asphalt paving and health equipment that are of paramount importance to our city."
The mayor of Palmelo, Eladir de Paula Ribeiro (PSD), stated that the main needs of the municipality are affordable housing, paved roads, and the renovation of the municipal hospital. At the end of the meeting, he said that the governor committed to establishing agreements to address these requests. "The governor's willingness is to help a great deal," he emphasized. "These meetings are very important for mayors, especially those who have just taken office. I have heard from several mayors who were also very pleased with the outcome of the meetings," he said.
Another mayor who met with Marconi Perillo, Eurípedes Miguel (PSDB), who is in his fourth term as mayor of Nova América, left the meeting satisfied with the requests presented. “A very positive meeting. The governor has always been a proponent of municipal issues. Without his help, we can't do anything,” he reported. Among the requests delivered to the governor were those for the construction of 90 affordable houses, 20 meters of asphalt, a five-a-side football field, and a walking track.
The mayor of Ipiranga de Goiás, Alex de Queiroz (PSD), was joined by state deputies Helio de Sousa (PSDB) and Lincoln Tejota (PSD) at the meeting. “I want your help to create an administration that will be a regional benchmark,” Queiroz asked the governor. After the meeting, in an interview with the press, the mayor praised Marconi Perillo's stance in promoting administrative partnerships with mayors from all political parties. “He is a governor who prioritizes municipalities. We mayors benefit greatly from this initiative of the governor.”
From the city of Morro Agudo came the delegation led by Mayor Anatair Antônio Santana (PSD). According to him, this is the third time he has met with Marconi this year alone. “This shows Marconi’s availability and commitment to municipal affairs. He is focused on the municipalities,” he praised. Santana is proud to manage a municipality with healthy finances and payments up to date. But, even though it is somewhat immune to the crisis, he stated that it needs the support of the state government.
At the last meeting of the evening, Mayor Miriã Dantas (PSDB), from Israelândia, stated that she had taken over the city hall with numerous problems to manage. Among the requests were a minibus and an ambulance. “The governor didn't exclude any mayor from any party. He received everyone. This serves as an example for us. We need to unite for the benefit of the population if we want to give a better future to our children, our municipality, and our state,” the mayor emphasized.
X-ray of Goiás
After individual meetings with virtually all the mayors of Goiás – only the mayors of Mazargão and Catalão are missing – the governor said he had compiled, through the demands presented, a comprehensive overview of Goiás. “I created an overview that no one else in the state of Goiás has. It was an unprecedented and transformative experience,” declared the governor.
"It's a joy to have spoken with mayors, councilors, former mayors, and leaders from 244 municipalities in record time. All the demands and requests in the areas of Infrastructure, Health, Education, Security, Housing, Urban Development, and so on. A true marathon," he listed.
He said he is cataloging the requests submitted in order to define the priorities that will be addressed. "We are securing resources to assist these mayors - especially in the areas of Housing, Infrastructure, and Health," he revealed.
