Valter Lima, from Sergipe 247 - Former federal deputy Márcio Macêdo, the new Finance Secretary of the PT National Directorate, stated, this Saturday (18), to 247, that he recognizes the "delicate moment" the party is going through, but is "willing to work" to restructure the sector he will be responsible for. "I arrive with humility, to act under the rigor of the legislation. I understand the party's call as a mission, a political task. I hope to be able to revitalize the PT National Executive," he said.

The new treasurer says he was pleased that his name was unanimously approved. "I would like to thank the PT's national board for unanimously and consensually approving my name and profile for this very delicate moment in our history," he stated. He also considered the PT's decision to prohibit corporate donations to the party to be positive.

Márcio Macêdo represents the PT's attempt to present a new name and a bold profile for the difficult task of managing the party's finances. In the Chamber of Deputies, during his term between 2011 and 2014, the congressman from Sergipe participated in major debates in areas such as the environment, education, and youth. He also enjoys the complete trust of the PT.

Below is text from the PT News Agency about the party's new treasurer:

The PT's National Directorate elected former federal deputy Márcio Macêdo (SE) to the party's Finance Secretariat this Friday. The vote took place during a meeting held at the party's headquarters in São Paulo.

Macêdo is taking the place of João Vaccari Neto, who stepped down this week after an arrest warrant was issued against him based on investigations from Operation Lava Jato.

A biologist with a degree from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and a Master's degree in Development and Environment from the same institution, the former congressman began his activism in the student movement in the 1990s, when he was president of the Central Student Directory (DCE) at UFS. He is a high school teacher in the state school system.

He was president of the PT (Workers' Party) Directorate in Aracaju. Later, he was elected president of the party's State Directorate, where he prepared the party to reach the state government, with Marcelo Déda's first election. In 2006, Marcio Macedo coordinated the victorious campaigns of Déda and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the state. In 2007, he was re-elected state president of the PT.

As president of the PT (Workers' Party), Marcio sought to bring all factions closer together, engaging in dialogue with all members and expanding the party's work in the interior of the state. He supported the youth, interacting with and valuing their ideas and encouraging their participation in party activities.

He was the municipal secretary for Popular Participation in Aracaju, where he consolidated one of the hallmarks of administrations run by the Workers' Party: participatory budgeting. Through this initiative, people were consulted about the most urgent needs of each neighborhood, which democratized investments during Marcelo Déda's administration in the city hall, bringing quality of life to all.

He was the superintendent of Ibama in Sergipe. During his tenure, there was substantial growth in the agency's activities in the state, particularly in the environmental area.
