Tocantins 247 - Governor Marcelo Miranda received the 17 councilors of Araguaína in his office at Palácio Araguaia this Thursday (24). They were accompanied by deputies Elenil da Penha and Valderez Castelo Branco, to discuss with the governor the demands of the municipality, which are underway in the government sphere.

The meeting discussed the continuation of the construction of the Araguaína General Hospital (HGA), which is only pending the release of financing from Banco do Brasil; the duplication of the TO-222 highway, the stretch that connects Araguaína to the Novo Horizonte District, foreseen in the State Government's loan request to Caixa Econômica Federal; the holding of the Military Police entrance exam, which should have its announcement published in the coming days; and the restoration of the TO-222 highway within the city limits, with a bidding process underway to hire a company to develop the project.

Marcelo Miranda said that the meeting was yet another opportunity to discuss the municipality's needs with all the council members. “This initiative by the council members was an act of great selflessness and magnanimity, because it provided an important debate around the interests of the people of Araguaína. I believe that things only happen this way, in a democratic environment. Nothing is healthier than bringing together representatives of a locality to address demands that promote collective development,” he assessed.

Councilman José Ferreira, who mediated the hearing, considered the meeting very positive. "The governor was very helpful, listened to all the council members, and we had the opportunity to access all possible information about our demands."

Councilman Terciliano Gomes, president of the Union of Councilors of Tocantins (Uvet), highlighted that everything is on track for the councilors' requests to be fulfilled. "The governor received us in a very kind and responsible manner, and that is very positive." Councilman Geraldo Silva also shared the same opinion. "In addition to signaling positively regarding our proposals."

The meeting also included the participation of the Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Public Services, Sérgio Leão; and the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Kênia Borges.
