After victory against Ghana, the Brazilian national team coach announces 24 players who will play in the first match of the Superclásico de las Américas; in total, ten are making their debuts.
247 – Shortly after the 1-0 victory over Ghana late Monday afternoon, coach Mano Menezes announced the squad for the first leg of the Superclásico de las Américas against rivals Argentina. The matches will be played on September 14th in Córdoba and September 28th in Belém. A total of ten debutants were called up: goalkeeper Rafael (Santos), full-backs Mário Fernandes (Grêmio) and Cortês (Botafogo), defender Rhodolfo (São Paulo), midfielders Paulinho (Corinthians), Rômulo (Vasco) and Casemiro (São Paulo), and attacking midfielders Cícero (São Paulo), Renato (Flamengo) and Oscar (Internacional).
São Paulo, with four players called up, was the club that contributed the most. The Tricolor was followed by Flamengo and Santos, with three each. Corinthians, Vasco, and Botafogo, with two each, came next. The players called up will not be absent from their teams in the Brasileirão, as there will be no scheduling conflict between the friendlies and the national competition calendar.
