More Doctors: professionals arrive in AL on Monday
There is great anticipation for the arrival in Alagoas of doctors who joined the Federal Government's Mais Médicos Program. 15 doctors will begin arriving in the State from Monday (2). They will work in inland cities.
Alagoas247 - This Monday, the 2nd, thirteen Brazilian doctors who joined the Mais Médicos Program of the Federal Government will arrive in Alagoas. It is expected that on September 16th, two more, both foreign doctors – who will go to Arapiraca and Joaquim Gomes – will arrive to reinforce healthcare services in 11 municipalities in Alagoas.
The doctors will be assigned to the municipalities of Arapiraca (1), Barra de Santo Antônio (1), Branquinha (1), Coité do Nóia (1), Joaquim Gomes (2), Maragogi (3), Marechal Deodoro (2), Penedo (1), Santana do Mundaú (1), São Miguel dos Milagres (1) and Satuba (1).
“We have very high expectations for improving healthcare services in the municipalities with the arrival of these medical professionals,” stated Michelle Oliveira, vice-president of the Collegiate of Municipal Health Secretariats of Alagoas (Consems).
According to Michelle, the doctors' work will be 'an excellent help to the municipalities and the local population'. Consems also estimates that the 15 professionals should carry out around six thousand consultations in the month of September.
“We are in talks and we hope that all the secretaries will welcome these professionals who will be working in primary health care. I believe this assistance will make a difference, even if there aren't that many doctors. The population is needy and requires this support,” reinforced the vice-president of Consems.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Mais Médicos program – with the Alagoas Doctors' Union (Sinmed) criticizing the lack of appreciation for the profession in the state – launched in July of this year, the selected doctors will work in more than 500 Brazilian municipalities.
