More than 41 surgeries are performed in hospitals in the interior of the state.

According to the State Government, the Cariri Regional Hospital in Juazeiro and the North Regional Hospital in Sobral performed more than 41 elective and emergency surgeries between July 2011 and March 2015.

Ceará 247 - Between July 2011 and March of this year, 14.966 patients were removed from the elective surgery waiting list in Ceará after procedures performed at the Cariri Regional Hospital (HRC) in Juazeiro do Norte and the North Regional Hospital (HRN) in Sobral, according to figures released by the State Government. The total number of elective and emergency surgeries performed at HRC and HRN up to March 2015 was 41.164 procedures, an average of 915 surgeries per month. During this period, 26.198 emergency surgeries were performed at the two hospitals. The two regional hospitals provided a total of 2,852,000 services up to April.

The first public hospital in the interior of the North, Northeast, and Central-West regions with more than 200 beds to receive the Accreditation Certificate for excellence in care, granted by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA), the HRC has performed 11.450 elective surgeries and 15.778 emergency surgeries since its inception. Located in Juazeiro do Norte, the HRC is also the first high-complexity public hospital built in the interior of the state to serve the population of 1,5 million inhabitants from the 45 municipalities of the Cariri macro-region. With 294 beds and a reference in traumatology, stroke treatment, and neurology, it performs maxillofacial, plastic, general, vascular, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures.

 In Sobral, the North Regional Hospital performed a total of 13.936 surgeries since March 2013, of which 3.516 were elective and 10.420 were emergencies. The HRN is the largest hospital in the interior of the Northeast region, with 57.813,70 square meters of built area and 382 beds. It performs surgeries in the specialties of pediatrics, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, vascular surgery, neuroradiology, otolaryngology, and obstetrics. The HRC provides high and medium complexity care to a population of 1,6 million inhabitants from the 55 municipalities of the North macro-region.
