ISS Mafia: 11 more auditors involved.

An auditor who made a plea bargain with the Public Prosecutor's Office said that there are more than a dozen auditors who were part of the ISS (Service Tax) mafia, a scheme that embezzled R$ 500 million from the São Paulo city hall, reducing the tax amount for hundreds of companies; this same witness said that the spreadsheet seized from tax auditor Luís Alexandre de Magalhães, with a list of 410 companies that paid bribes, is genuine.

The document indicates the payment of R$ 29 million in bribes between June 2010 and October 2011.

At the end of last month, the mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (PT), said that all projects analyzed by the group of suspected tax inspectors will be reviewed. "At a minimum, the documentation submitted must be reviewed to verify if there was underpayment. If there was, there is no way to avoid collecting the tax due," he stated.
