Will Luizianne stay with the PT or will she pack her bags and join the PSB?
After the damage caused to the PSB (Brazilian Socialist Party) with the departure of the governor of Ceará, Cid Gomes, and his brother, former minister Ciro Gomes, now it is the PT (Workers' Party) that is suffering; in an attempt to dissuade the former mayor of Fortaleza, Luizianne Lins, from accepting the invitation – denied by the party – to join the ranks of the PSB, the PT reportedly offered her the possibility of succeeding Cid Gomes in the Palácio da Abolição (Governor's Palace); Luizianne, who spent years sidelined, would have the support of none other than former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva himself.
PE247 - After the damage caused to the PSB in Ceará with the departure of the state governor, Cid Gomes, and his brother, former minister Ciro Gomes, it is the PT (Workers' Party) that is trying to stem the bleeding in the state directory. In an attempt to dissuade the former mayor of Fortaleza, Luizianne Lins, from accepting the invitation – denied by the party's national president and governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos – to join the PSB, the Workers' Party reportedly offered the former mayor the possibility of being the party's candidate to succeed Cid Gomes at the Palácio da Abolição (Governor's Palace). Luizianne, who spent years sidelined, would have the support of none other than former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva himself.
According to columnist Felipe Patury of Época magazine, the message to party members and allies in Ceará was delivered by the president of the PT (Workers' Party), Rui Falcão, who informed them that the former mayor will have the majoritarian slot available to the party in the state, whether to run for the Senate or the state government. Luizianne and Falcão are expected to meet tonight in São Paulo to discuss the conditions of her leaving or remaining in the party.
