Luciana Genro promises to tax large fortunes.

Presidential candidate Luciana Genro (PSOL-RS) said that her proposal to tax large fortunes will allow for the allocation of 10% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) – which is the sum of a country's wealth – to education; "With our proposal to tax large fortunes, we will immediately have R$ 90 billion, which means doubling the public budget for education, on the path to the effective application of 10% of GDP to the sector," declared the candidate.

Presidential candidate Luciana Genro (PSOL) said today (11) that her proposal to tax large fortunes will allow the application of 10% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) - which is the sum of a country's wealth - to education. She made the statement while handing out leaflets in the restaurant queue at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), accompanied by party activists.

"With our proposal to tax large fortunes, we will immediately have R$ 90 billion, which means doubling the public budget for education, on the path to effectively allocating 10% of GDP to the sector," the candidate stated.

Earlier, the candidate had posted a video on her Facebook page, greeting young people on Student Day. According to her, the date is an occasion to celebrate, but also to fight. Luciana Genro defended free public universities for all and quality education. "We who saw young people take to the streets in 2013 are certain that with struggle and mobilization it is possible to guarantee the rights of youth," she said.
