Starting this Saturday (31), some of the bus lines that circulate on Avenida Tancredo Neves will be relocated to the lane next to Salvador Shopping. The measure, to be adopted by the Salvador Transit and Transportation Superintendency (Transalvador), aims to improve traffic conditions on the avenue, which is the busiest in the capital of Bahia. With the change, the route of 40% of the 200 buses that circulate every hour in the area will be altered (see attached list).

According to the superintendent of Transalvador, Fabrízzio Muller, traffic in the region will be relieved by relocating approximately 80 buses per hour to the other lane. Currently, these vehicles have to cross Tancredo Neves Avenue to access the road where the Sarah Kubitschek Hospital is located.

The change will affect buses coming from the Iguatemi area via Rua Marcos Freire, near Tend Tudo. To access the street where Hospital Sarah is located, near the former Dismel store, buses will now pass through Alameda Salvador. To allow for the change in the area, it was necessary to open a new road connecting the two points.

Currently, many buses heading towards Avenida Luiz Viana (Paralela) cross Tancredo Neves, intensifying traffic flow in that area. The new measure will also shorten the distance to the access to Paralela. Fabrízzio Muller says that Transalvador is producing informational material (folders and leaflets) with all the necessary instructions for the public. Transalvador agents will also be on the streets to explain how bus routes will be affected after the change.
