The Regional Development, Water Resources, Mining and Fisheries Committee of the Legislative Assembly will hold a public hearing this Wednesday (April 29th) to discuss the territorial boundaries between Eusébio and Itaitinga. The debate will take place at 2:30 PM in the Technical Committees Complex of the Assembly. The hearing is in response to a request from Deputy Bruno Gonçalves (PEN). The municipalities of the two cities are disputing the taxes levied on companies located in the border region. Business owners also lack certainty about which territory their companies are located in, and consequently where they should pay their taxes.

The Eusébio Urban Development Plan law establishes that the dividing lines of the urban perimeter of the Municipality of Eusébio to the west, bordering the municipality of Itaitinga, begin at the bridge over the Coaçu Stream, on BR 116, and continue in the same northerly direction until they meet the bridge over the Carro Quebrado Stream;

The Municipality of Itaitinga bases its actions on Law No. 3.338, of March 27, 1992, which created the municipality. The law, approved by the Legislative Assembly, establishes that the boundary between the two municipalities is the line formed by BR-116, and no longer the curve of the Carro Quebrado stream, as also defined by the law creating Eusébio, dated June 19, 1987.
