Lídice wants to be on Rui's ticket in 2018.
In a conversation with the press at the Bonfim Washing Festival, Senator Lídice da Mata (PSB) stated that she hopes to remain on Governor Rui Costa's ticket, who is expected to seek re-election in 2018; "I am a correct senator, consistent with the government program. I have an indisputably non-loyal stance, but one of affirming a political thought that unites us. I am very comfortable and very calm to build this project together with the governor," said the socialist; one of the two Senate seats on Rui's ticket is considered certain for Senator Otto Alencar (PSD); the other is said to be between Lídice and the president of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia, Deputy Marcelo Nilo (PSL).
Bahia 247 - In a conversation with the press at the Bonfim Washing Festival, Senator Lídice da Mata (PSB) stated that she hopes to remain on the ticket supporting Governor Rui Costa (PT), who is expected to seek re-election in 2018.
"I am a correct senator, consistent with the government program. I have an indisputable stance not of loyalty, but of affirming a political thought that unites us. I am very comfortable and very calm to build this project together with the governor, regardless of anything," said the socialist.
The senator, however, did not comment on the dispute for the presidency of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (AL-BA), nor on the agreement she allegedly made with deputy Marcelo Nilo (PSL) regarding the Senate in 2018, when the politically stronger candidate would receive the support of the other in forming the governor's ticket.
Also present at the festivities, Nilo, however, did not rule out the possibility of running for the Senate. The problem is that, for this to happen, Rui's allies, including the vice-governor, João Leão (PP), and Senator Otto Alencar (PSD), claim that he needs to withdraw his candidacy for the presidency of the Legislative Assembly, a body he has led for five consecutive terms (10 years) and wants to lead for at least another two years (2017-2018).
