Goiás 247 - Congressman Jovair Arantes (GO), leader of the PTB in the Chamber of Deputies, warned that he intends to thwart Michel Temer's plans to have Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) as president of the Chamber in a new term.
Jovair Arantes, leader of the so-called Centrão and one of the orchestrators of the parliamentary coup that placed Temer in the presidency, announced that he will file an appeal with the Supreme Federal Court (STF) questioning the legality of a president in an interim term running for the position, should Maia officially announce his candidacy for reelection.
"Rodrigo knows he can't be a candidate and he's not going to officially announce his candidacy. He's just maneuvering and maneuvering to occupy space later on. But if he does announce it, of course that's what I'm going to do, we're going to contest it in the Supreme Court," Jovair Arantes told Globo.
Coincidence or not, on Monday a huge banner with a photo of Jovair Arantes, as a candidate for president of the Chamber of Deputies, was placed on the Esplanade of Ministries. The sign reads: "Jovair president, independent Chamber".
"I didn't do it! It was a supporter. I haven't officially announced my candidacy yet. I'm having conversations with our team to have a strong candidacy," said the congressman from Goiás.
