The Editorial Team A 15-month review of Operation Responsible Nightlife was released this Wednesday morning (02/01) by the Goiás State Traffic Department (Detran-GO). From September 30, 2011 to December 30, 2012, there were 259.819 stops.
More than 70 vehicles were inspected, with 2.306 seized. According to Detran (the state traffic department), the operation involved 46.250 breathalyzer tests, resulting in 12.290 fines.
According to the report, 3.289 driver's licenses were seized and 172 people were arrested for drunk driving.
New Year's Eve
Between 19 pm on December 31st and 6 am on January 1st alone, 41 drivers were fined and 3 arrested for drunk driving, as a result of an operation carried out at 12 locations in Goiânia and another 12 in the interior of the state during the New Year's celebrations.
All were cited in accordance with the new 'dry law', which, since December 21st, has increased the fine for article 165 of the Brazilian Traffic Code from R$ 957,70 to R$ 1.915,40. Repeat offenders, within a 12-month period, will pay a fine of R$ 3.830,80.
